About The Position

Sellers Dorsey is seeking a new Associate Director, Consulting for the Ohio practice who will manage Sellers Dorsey client engagements in Ohio focused on Medicaid strategy and financing, managed care, and provider policy and reimbursement. As the Associate Director, you will provide direct client consulting and leadership services including providing objective advice, expertise and specialized skills in healthcare policy, strategy and management with the aim of creating value, maximizing growth and/or improving the business performance of clients. In this role, you will support the Senior Director in delivering healthcare consulting services leveraging policy and/or industry expertise in areas such as Medicaid policy, benefits, provider reimbursement, regulatory compliance, managed care, and general business development, and be responsible for client relationships at a senior level and/or responsible for all policy/technical aspects on projects. You will also deliver strategic advice and counsel to our Sellers Dorsey business partners, states, private companies and various associations or unions and be responsible for policy guidance, project management, client deliverables and satisfaction, and identification of new and expanded business activities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree and 10 or more combined years in a public healthcare policy management role and/or in the healthcare consulting industry.
  • 10 or more years of progressively responsible work experience in health or human services policy research, consulting and/or in a healthcare service delivery environment and/or with a Medicaid managed care organization.
  • Experience with Medicaid financing, reimbursement and policies required.
  • Expertise with Medicaid required and expertise with Ohio Medicaid preferred.
  • Advanced experience at the federal, state or private health insurance plan industry sector strongly desired.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel required.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, including relaying complex technical terms in an easy-to-understand manner.
  • Ability to analyze and interpret federal and state policies and regulations.
  • Ability to interact professionally with clients and other outside audiences.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills required; experience in quantitative program evaluation is highly desirable.
  • The ability to work effectively independently and in teams.
  • Experience delivering services on several projects simultaneously.
  • Time management skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Advanced degree in Public Policy, Public Administration, Public Health, Health Administration, business, economics or MBA or additional relevant experience in lieu of such advanced degree preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Management of multiple projects/clients, engagements, priorities, and timelines within assigned Practice while ensuring exceptional client satisfaction.
  • Responsible for delivery of quality project/engagement deliverables to clients on agreed upon schedule to ensure client satisfaction while managing and developing client relationships.
  • Manage and review project/engagement financials internally on a regular basis to ensure that Practice utilization targets are achieved, that projects/engagements are completed on budget and that Firm profitability is maximized.
  • Participate in internal work groups to develop policies and procedures and improve processes to increase the organization’s efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Continue to build Medicaid program knowledge internally and externally to better understand changing interpretations, identify new opportunities and assess new threats to the work of the practice and the work of the firm.
  • In coordination with the SVP of NMF, develop and execute a business development strategy, in alignment with the Firm’s overall strategic direction for services and solutions in assigned Practice as well as develop and achieve annual revenue targets and expense budgets for the assigned Practice.
  • Oversee the overall portfolio of clients within the Sellers Dorsey’s Ohio state practice and lead in initial sales, renewals and extensions.
  • Participate in the recruitment, development, utilization and retention of consulting staff. Provide appropriate mentoring; manage performance feedback, training and professional development opportunities to help individuals in assigned Practice.
  • Manage and review consulting practice financials, utilization and business development plans to ensure revenue, profitability and utilization targets are achieved. Work collaboratively with other members of the Management Team to ensure Firm resources, including both internal and external resources, are utilized in a manner that maximizes Firm long-term profitability and client account growth.
  • Participate in the development of strategies that respond to market trends and to develop intellectual capital and generate business ideas to enhance the Firm’s consulting services and products. Develop new products and services aligned with the Firm’s overall strategic direction. Work with internal teams to prepare innovative new products and services to the market.
  • Collaborate with other practices to share findings and lessons learned and to identify opportunities with other Practices and additional service offerings to existing clients that maximize long term benefits and relationship between the client and Sellers Dorsey.
