About The Position

The Associate Director, Commercialization Reference Data is responsible for executing enterprise data product and data governance strategy for reference data domains across the Commercialization ecosystem. This role ensures that Customer (HCP/HCO), Product, and related reference data are delivered as trusted, high-quality, and well-governed data products supporting analytics, AI/ML, reporting, and omnichannel activation. This role is execution-focused, translating enterprise standards into operational practices across Master Data Management (MDM), Databricks, and downstream consuming platforms in close partnership with Commercial, Analytics, IT/Data Engineering, Privacy & Compliance, and external data vendors.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Data, Life Sciences, Business, or related field; advanced degree preferred.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in data products, data governance, MDM, analytics enablement, or commercial data within pharmaceutical or life sciences organizations.
  • Experience executing enterprise data strategies across commercial reference data domains (e.g., Customer/HCP/HCO, Product).
  • Demonstrated ability to lead delivery and execution through strong stakeholder engagement and cross‑functional collaboration (Commercial, Analytics, IT, Compliance, vendors).
  • Working knowledge of modern data platforms and lake house architectures (e.g., Databricks) and how curated data products are delivered and consumed.
  • Practical experience with MDM execution, including match/merge logic, hierarchies, affiliations, and enterprise identifiers.
  • Strong understanding of operational data governance, including ownership, definitions, classification, approved usage, and privacy/retention controls.
  • Experience implementing and monitoring data quality controls and coordinating issue resolution across data pipelines and vendors.
  • Familiarity with metadata and data cataloging to support discoverability, certification, and governed self‑service access.
  • Exposure to third‑party commercial data and operationalization of licensing, redistribution, and retention constraints.

Responsibilities

  • Execute enterprise-defined data product and data governance standards for assigned Commercial reference data domains.
  • Deliver and maintain certified reference data products to support enterprise reuse.
  • Define and implement governance standards including ownership, stewardship, business definitions, classifications, and approved usage.
  • Embed privacy, consent, licensing, and retention requirements directly into data products and consumption workflows.
  • Define MDM mastering standards including match/merge, survivorship, hierarchies, affiliations, and identifiers.
  • Ensure mastered output are delivered as consistent, enterprise-ready reference data products.
  • Define and monitor domain-specific data quality controls and performance thresholds.
  • Coordinate root-cause analysis and resolution of data quality issues impacting commercial use cases.
  • Ensure reference data products are fully documented and published in the enterprise data catalog.
  • Enable governed self-service consumption while promoting use of certified enterprise data assets.
  • Execute governance controls for third-party reference data including licensing, redistribution, and retention obligations.
  • Coordinate vendor onboarding, feed changes, and ongoing quality monitoring.
