About The Position

Addepar is seeking an experienced and highly motivated Engineering Manager to lead the Reference Data Team in the UK. This team is a critical component of the Addepar Platform, which serves as a comprehensive data fabric providing a single source of truth for Addepar's product set. The Reference Data Team is responsible for acquiring, converting, cleansing, reconciling, modeling, and managing the infrastructure for market and security master data from third-party providers. This role is crucial for aligning data products and enabling clients to manage their investment portfolios effectively. The Engineering Manager will lead a team in delivering complex engineering projects using a modern technology stack including PySpark, Python, AWS, Terraform, Java, Kubernetes, and microservices.

Requirements

2+ years of proven experience leading engineering teams.
5+ years of professional backend engineering experience as an individual contributor.
A computer science degree or equivalent experience.
Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
Prior experience with distributed systems, microservices, and messaging queues.
Working knowledge of at least one object-oriented programming language (PySpark, Python, Java).
Working knowledge of relational databases, SQL, and data pipelines.

Must be authorized to begin work in the U.S. on their first day of employment.

Nice To Haves

Knowledge of financial concepts (e.g., stocks, bonds, etc.) is helpful but not necessary.
Passion for the world of FinTech and solving previously intractable problems at the heart of investment management is a plus.

Responsibilities

Drive the technical direction in close alignment with product counterparts, engineering peers in other regions, and the wider engineering community.
Build and manage a team of exceptional engineers to design, develop, and deploy scalable solutions that meet client requirements on time.
Act as a player-coach, leading the team to build frameworks supporting highly performant ingestion and distribution of financial data, and develop AI-native products from prototype to scalable production services with high velocity.
Advocate for standard methodologies and identify opportunities for automation and optimization in processes to increase throughput, latency, and accuracy.
Develop and maintain efficient process controls and accurate metrics to improve data quality and increase operational efficiency.
Work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment to deliver high-quality results and drive continuous improvement.
