Associate Director, Commercial BI

AbbVieMettawa, IL

About The Position

The Analytics and Performance Excellence (APEX) function supports AbbVie’s US organization and is comprised of highly respected researchers, analysts, and strategists who are committed to being best-in-class within the biopharmaceutical industry. We serve as a strategic in-house counsel, ensuring that all decisions leverage the key insights that we develop. We continue to build new capabilities and skill sets, encouraging our team members to pull up a chair, be themselves, be creative, speak their minds, and do good work. We are a passionate, diverse, flexible, and inclusive organization with a culture that supports the best ideas, wherever they originate. We are smart, fun, quirky, and innovative – and we’d love for you to join us. The Associate Director, Business Intelligence (BI) is a strategic and critical role in the APEX Enterprise organization, responsible for leading the delivery of scalable, trusted, and actionable BI solutions that accelerate decision-making across AbbVie’s US Therapeutics organization. A core expectation of this role is a strong data product management mindset—operating as a BI product manager to define the vision, roadmap, and adoption strategy for governed BI assets that deliver measurable business value. This role operates in a highly collaborative, matrixed environment and partners with cross-functional stakeholders (Business, APEX Enterprise, and Business Technology) to align on priorities, navigate ambiguity, and deliver high-impact insights while balancing enterprise standards with rapid, agile execution. The core role involves building and scaling best-in-class BI capabilities—including reusable data models and metrics, governed self-service reporting, and integrating them with a modern “data marketplace” approach that makes curated data products easy to discover, understand, access, and use quickly and safely. This position is a leadership role and involves establishing BI best practices (standards, governance, and ways of working) while enabling teams to deliver iteratively. The Associate Director will drive automation and repeatability in reporting and analytics, improve adoption through enablement, and ensure solutions are performant, secure, and fit-for-purpose.
