Associate Director, Client Systems Integration

Alteva RCM•New York, NY
•$120,000 - $165,000

About The Position

Alteva RCM is hiring an Associate Director to build and lead a newly created client systems integration function. The role will establish the standards, playbook, and team for connecting Alteva to client-owned EHR and practice management systems across health systems and physician groups, replacing one-off solutions with consistent approaches. Working at the intersection of Technology, Operations, and clients, the Associate Director will design integrations, determine the appropriate operating model for each client, and ensure that coders, billers, and A/R specialists can use the resulting systems and workflows effectively. The role includes selecting connection methods, engaging client executives and IT teams, enabling Alteva staff to work in client EHRs, partnering on claims intake and data pipelines, troubleshooting data feeds, translating operational needs into technical requirements, and preparing teams for workflow changes and go-lives. The position coordinates with an Epic Program Manager for Epic-based clients. Alteva RCM describes itself as a revenue cycle management organization that supports healthcare providers through revenue cycle management, strategic insight, and innovative solutions.

Requirements

  • Hands-on experience with HL7, FHIR, and X12 transactions, including 837, 835, and 276/277.
  • Experience with extracts, file transfers, APIs, and RPA where interfaces are unavailable.
  • Experience across multiple EMR/EHR platforms; the role is EMR-agnostic.
  • Working knowledge of coding, billing, A/R resolution, and IDR sufficient to design data flows around these workflows.
  • Experience connecting to client-owned systems that the candidate did not control, ideally at an RCM company, outsourcer, or health-tech vendor.
  • Ability to build credibility quickly with client executives and IT teams.
  • Sound judgment on operating models and build-versus-extract-versus-RPA tradeoffs.
  • Builder’s mindset and comfort creating structure, standards, and teams from scratch.
  • Strong ability to translate between technical and operational audiences.

Nice To Haves

  • Epic expertise; the role is EMR-agnostic, and experience with athenahealth, eClinicalWorks, NextGen, Oracle Health, or similar platforms is also valued.
  • Experience enabling staff to work inside client EHRs, not just moving data between systems.
  • Experience building or working with a claims intake pipeline.
  • Exposure to anesthesia, out-of-network, and IDR workflows.
  • Experience training and preparing operational staff for workflow changes.
  • Epic certifications in Resolute PB/HB or Bridges, or a background as an Epic analyst or interface developer.
  • Background as an Epic analyst or interface professional at a health system, or in integration at an RCM vendor followed by experience connecting to client environments; multi-EHR integrators with RCM vendor backgrounds are also described as competitive.

Responsibilities

  • Build and own the client systems integration function, including its standards, playbook, and team.
  • Assess each new client and recommend whether to exchange data, work directly in the client’s system, or use a combination, based on purchased services.
  • Select the appropriate connection method for each client—interface, extract, file transfer, API, or RPA—and oversee design through delivery.
  • Lead engagement with client CIOs, IT teams, and EHR teams to obtain access approval and prioritize work.
  • Enable Alteva staff to work effectively inside client EHRs, including access, security, build requirements, and training.
  • Partner with Technology on claims intake and data pipelines.
  • Diagnose and resolve feed and interface issues, explaining them to Operations in workflow terms.
  • Translate Operations needs into clear technical requirements for engineers.
  • Coordinate with the Epic Program Manager on Epic-based clients.
  • Prepare and train operational teams for workflow changes to support successful operational and technical go-lives.
