The NYC Commission on Racial Equity (NYC CORE) is an independent 15-member commission established to guide and assess the City's racial equity planning process. It is the first of its kind in the nation and is responsible for engaging diverse communities to ensure racial equity and justice are at the heart of city government. NYC CORE provides accountability by regularly evaluating the City’s progress on its racial requirements and goals. The Commission's staff executes the day-to-day mission, translating the vision of the Chair & Executive Director and Commissioners into actionable strategies and plans that implement accountability for racial equity in the city. The staff aims to be representative of New Yorkers from all communities and walks of life, bringing an accountability mindset to their work and collaborating with city agencies while voicing public concerns.
