The Office of Alumni Engagement and Annual Giving at Tufts University builds lifelong relationships with alumni through opportunities to connect, engage, volunteer, and give. The office leads alumni programs, volunteer experiences, reunion and class-based engagement, and annual giving strategies. It oversees the Tufts Fund for Arts, Sciences, and Engineering, which raises more than $13 million annually, and provides strategic leadership and centralized support for university annual giving programs. The Associate Director, Annual Giving and Volunteer Engagement leads the recruitment, training, engagement, and stewardship of more than 150 alumni volunteers, with a particular focus on reunion and class volunteers. The role develops volunteer engagement and fundraising strategies, cultivates future volunteer leaders, and partners with Alumni Engagement and Development colleagues to increase alumni engagement and philanthropic support. The Associate Director leads volunteer efforts for key annual giving initiatives, including #TuftsGivingTuesday, Reunions, and fiscal year-end campaigns. The position also develops volunteer training and communications, oversees program operations, reporting and analysis, and data management, and serves as the primary program lead for the GiveCampus volunteer management platform. For the Class Volunteer Program, the Associate Director works with the Director of Annual Giving and Volunteer Engagement to develop and implement program growth strategies. They lead Class Volunteer Decade Chairs, identify opportunities to increase annual fund giving through peer-to-peer solicitation, solicit class volunteers including for leadership-level gifts, and coordinate volunteer experiences across alumni relationships. The role oversees program data, online presence, reporting, communications, and daily operations; evaluates engagement and fundraising results; and partners with colleagues to integrate volunteers into fundraising, events, communications, and broader alumni engagement. The Associate Director recruits, trains, engages, and stewards volunteers for approximately 20 classes, comprising about 50 volunteers; creates volunteer communications and training; leads quarterly volunteer calls; and cultivates emerging leaders for future Reunion committees and other leadership opportunities. For the Reunions Volunteer Program, the Associate Director recruits, engages, trains, and stewards volunteers for two classes, building committees focused on engagement, attendance, and giving. They manage relationships with key volunteers, provide resources and training, identify volunteers for special opportunities, and staff Reunions weekend. They also solicit volunteers and key alumni in assigned classes, monitor outreach and fundraising results, and adjust strategies as needed. The role develops and executes volunteer support for fundraising initiatives. For #TuftsGivingTuesday, the Associate Director creates and executes a parallel path for athletics volunteers in partnership with athletics development staff and coaches, develops strategies to drive outreach and giving using GiveCampus social fundraising features, and leads two volunteer outreach calls. For other campaigns, they coordinate two all-volunteer calls, mobilize and train volunteers for peer-to-peer outreach as appropriate, and monitor volunteer activity and campaign results. As staff lead for the volunteer management platform, the Associate Director manages GiveCampus strategically, including platform maintenance, template creation, troubleshooting, continuous improvement, and annual evaluation.
