About The Position

Thales Defense & Security, Inc. (TDSI) is seeking to fill an Associate Digital Hardware Engineer position located at their Clarksburg, MD campus. The role involves working closely with Senior Engineers on new or existing product development programs in Digital Hardware design of portable radio products. This includes working with Microprocessors, DSPs, Memory Systems, FPGAs, and High Efficiency Power Supplies, and utilizing hardware development and design tools such as Spice, Hyperlinx, Altium Designer, KiCAD, and Matlab. TDSI has been serving domestic and international defense domains for over 60 years and has over 1,000 employees across four subsidiaries. They support U.S. Joint Services, special operations forces, and multinational partners with various communication, visualization, signal intelligence/electronic warfare, and sensor/sonar capabilities. Their key technologies include tactical handheld radios, expeditionary satellite terminals, helmet-mounted displays, optics and target recognition capability, advanced radars, and undersea sensing and missile systems.

Requirements

  • U.S. Citizenship required.
  • Applicants selected may be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.
  • BSEE or MSEE.
  • Basic knowledge of Analog and Digital Design fundamentals.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills - Fluent in English.
  • Working knowledge of Microprocessors, DSPs, Memory Systems, FPGAs, and High Efficiency Power Supplies.
  • Knowledgeable of PC based hardware debugging and development tools.
  • Basic understanding of design and analysis tools, like Spice and Hyperlinks.
  • Ability to comply with all Company guidelines, policies, procedures and embrace Company Core Values.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with hardware development and design tools like Spice, Hyperlinx, Altium Designer, KiCAD and Matlab.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical support to engineers and scientific staff in design and development projects to find solutions to real world problems.
  • Apply foundational knowledge of analog and digital design principles in support of hardware development tasks.
  • Gather and analyze data or information in support of engineering research.
  • Document and communicate results of technical data generated.
  • Share technical information and promote open dialogue.
  • Additional responsibilities may be assigned as needed.
