About The Position

The Associate Designer, A New Day Knits and Sweaters supports Owned Brand Product Design and Development, following direction from design leaders to advance overall product design strategy and merchant objectives. The role takes a diligent, self-directed approach to workload and communicates accurately and promptly with internal and external partners.

The Associate Designer supports product and trend research, trend concepts, color, and product design and development. The role also assists with product specifications and the development of trim, print, embellishment, and hardware packages. Ideas are translated into CAD or hand sketches, including design and technical sketches and professional presentation boards and materials for meetings and vendor partners. The designer works closely with Technical Design to communicate fit and construction details.

Requirements

• Four-year degree in Design, Fine Art, or a similar area of study, or equivalent experience.
• At least 1 year of experience.
• Computer design system skills, including InDesign, Illustrator, and Photoshop.
• Experience in CAD illustration or 2D/3D software.
• Ability to stay aware of trends and fashion.
• Understanding of textiles, garment construction and fit, or raw materials and product production.
• Experience assimilating product feedback.
• Ability to research and apply market and trend information.
• Ability to build strong partnerships and work successfully in a team environment.

• Support Owned Brand Product Design and Development in achieving product design strategy and merchant objectives.
• Maintain a diligent, self-directed approach to workload and communicate accurately and promptly with internal and external partners.
• Support product and trend research, trend concepts, color, and product design and development.
• Assist in preparing product specifications and developing trim, print, embellishment, and hardware packages.
• Translate ideas into CAD or hand sketches, including design and technical sketches.
• Prepare professional presentation boards and materials for meetings and vendor partners.
• Work closely with Technical Design to communicate fit and construction details.
