About The Position

ABB Distribution Solutions connects equipment, software, and services to protect, control, and optimize assets within electrical infrastructures, providing end-to-end solutions that support the reliability and protection of customers’ electrical infrastructure. The Associate Designer contributes to the Electrification Distribution Solutions Division in the US and creates electrical connection diagrams requiring knowledge of ANSI Air Insulated Switchgear. Assignments may involve advanced and innovative techniques. The role also supports design assignments and helps ensure that project deliverables meet contractual, safety, cybersecurity, and quality requirements. The work model is on-site. This position reports to the Engineering Manager.

Requirements

• Associate degree in Engineering Technology or a related field.
• At least 2 years of relevant experience in manufacturing, customer application engineering, or electrical design.
• Authorization to legally work in the US.
• Ability to read and interpret electrical diagrams.
• Knowledge of power systems and protection-related matters.
• Strong interpersonal skills.
• Self-motivated, with a high level of creativity.
• Complex problem-solving skills.
• Experience dealing with cultural diversity in a global business environment.

Nice To Haves

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related field.
• Experience working in a manufacturing environment, specifically with control wiring.
• Experience with electrical distribution equipment.
• Proficiency with a recent version of AutoCAD or an equivalent computer-aided design platform.
• Computer-aided design certification or degree.
• Familiarity and practical experience with MS Word, MS Excel, MS Project, PowerPoint, SAP, Windchill, and other applicable software.
• Knowledge of Spanish.

Responsibilities

• Create electrical connection diagrams using knowledge of ANSI Air Insulated Switchgear.
• Proactively seek and implement initiatives to improve operations and increase customer satisfaction.
• Support preparation of specific aspects of design assignments to meet contractual obligations and adhere to safety, cybersecurity, and quality requirements.
• Ensure project Bills of Materials meet contractual obligations.
• Assist with technical risk assessments and implement resulting actions in projects.
• Participate in workshops pertaining to engineering design, tools, and processes.
