About The Position

Mesa is seeking an Associate Designer I to develop physical designs for power substations for a long-term utility client. The role is based at Mesa’s West Knoxville location and follows a hybrid work schedule. The successful candidate will join a team of design professionals and contribute to physical design documentation and project delivery while meeting customer schedules and budget requirements.

Requirements

Associate degree in Engineering Technology or a similar field.
Understanding of power substation elements as they relate to physical design.
Novice-level AutoCAD skills.
Strong communication skills.
Ability to prioritize.
Organized and effective work habits.

Nice To Haves

0–3 years of substation physical design experience is preferred.
Good attitude and positive mindset.
Willingness to learn and openness to new ideas and design methods.
Ability to work well in groups and communicate effectively.
Self-starter who can begin projects, ask questions, and stay productive.
Detail-oriented approach to quality.
Dedication, loyalty, and integrity in completing tasks.

Responsibilities

Design and develop elevation diagrams, general layout diagrams, one-line diagrams, bills of materials, and other physical design documentation.
Perform physical design work with a high degree of accuracy.
Work both in teams and independently.
Use AutoCAD to create deliverables.
Interact with the customer and meet schedule and budgeting requirements.
Review other team members’ work.
Practice safe habits and perform no unsafe acts.
