About The Position

The Associate Dean of Career and Technical Education is responsible for the sound management and strategic oversight of the academic programs (personnel and students) within the Career and Technical Education division. This position will collaborate with the Dean of Career and Technical Education (CTE) to ensure quality programming, processes, policies, and procedures are maintained.

Requirements

  • Master's or higher degree in Education, Leadership, Technical Education, or closely related field.
  • Four (4) years of experience in an educational setting teaching, training, and/or working directly with students.
  • Two (2) years of supervisory experience with multiple direct reports.
  • Strong leadership skills and the ability to effectively lead and supervise teams.
  • Experience in communicating effectively in writing and speaking as appropriate for the needs of the audience.
  • Experience in handling difficult and stressful situations with professional composure.
  • Experience using logic and reasoning to identify strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems.
  • Demonstrated ability to recognize, analyze, and solve a variety of problems.
  • Demonstrated ability to exercise sound judgment in making critical decisions.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage a budget and work within the constraints of that budget.
  • Demonstrated ability in completing assignments accurately and with attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze, organize, and prioritize work while meeting multiple deadlines.
  • Demonstrated ability to process and handle confidential information with discretion.

Nice To Haves

  • Five (5) years or more experience in an educational setting, teaching, training, and/or experience working directly with students.
  • Experience in higher education; knowledge of college systems, particularly two (2) year colleges.
  • Commitment to and ability to work with a diverse student and faculty population.
  • Demonstrate leadership and management skills.
  • Knowledge of and experience with developing and evaluating assessment strategies; student learning behaviors; student learning outcomes; program learning outcomes; and HLC compliance.

Responsibilities

  • Identify, recommend to the Dean, orient, and evaluate faculty and staff within Career and Technical Education programs.
  • Supervise the academic Career and Technical Education faculty, staff, and students.
  • As student issues arise, work with the students and personnel involved to resolve.
  • Support faculty in evaluating equipment and technology needs and facilitate procurement and reporting.
  • Create equipment replacement plans and coordinate with the Dean of CTE for budget planning and allocations.
  • Assist faculty in developing community and education partnerships that will expand relationships, coordination, CTE education support, student awareness of CTE pathways, and provide opportunities for engaging employers.
  • Support the assessment and program review activities for the division to ensure compliance of national and program-specific accreditation standards.
  • Recommend programs for expansion/closure to the Dean of CTE.
  • Support program alignments to ensure compliance with the Kansas Board of Regents, HLC, and program accreditors.
  • Oversee and ensure programs at multiple locations have continuity in education and experiences.
  • Coordinate academic program budget activities.
  • Work with the Dean to develop academic program budgets for each academic year.
  • Ensure program compliance with college policies and procedures.
  • Coordinate with the Perkins V Director regarding activities to ensure compliance with Federal standards.
  • Collaborate with high schools to ensure students are meeting the expectations of both KCKCC and the school district.
  • Identify, document, and promote programs of study and career pathways.
  • Coordinate with the High School Partnership Coordinator to expand secondary education partnerships and opportunities for students to pursue higher education.
  • Attend division leadership team meetings, institutional meetings/committees, state, and national meetings/professional development opportunities.
  • Work with the industry advisory boards of the career and technical education programs to maintain quality programs that meet industry needs.
  • Ensure Advisory Committees are following best practices.
  • Provide leadership for the appropriate integration of learning technologies and pedagogy into instructional programs and activities.
  • Coordinate professional development opportunities for CTE faculty and staff.
  • Provide written/oral reports on the performance of the academic programs within the division.
  • Responsible for understanding the Safety needs of the programs at the technical education center and maintaining a ‘Safety First’ environment.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Benefits

  • Annual salary up to $117,271. (Commensurate with education and experience.)
