About The Position

The Associate Dean of Transportation, Manufacturing, & Agriculture Technologies at Fletcher Technical Community College plays a crucial role in leading transformative programs that prepare learners for in-demand careers and support economic growth. This position involves supervising faculty and staff, managing academic operations, advancing program quality, utilizing data for decision-making, building industry partnerships, expanding student pathways, ensuring compliance and funding readiness, supporting grant activities, promoting programs, managing resources, and leading events. The role fosters a respectful, inclusive, student-centered culture and represents the division in various capacities.

Requirements

  • Master's degree plus a minimum of 3 years of experience in higher education administration, academic support, or program leadership.
  • Proven ability to plan, coordinate, and continuously improve academic and workforce programs and course offerings.
  • Strong interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills with a collaborative, solutions-oriented leadership style.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel) and learning management systems (e.g., Canvas).
  • Flexibility to work varied hours and respond to evolving priorities.

Nice To Haves

  • Community college experience preferred.
  • Experience with accreditation, program review, and assessment in career and technical education.
  • Background developing industry partnerships, advisory committees, or work-based learning/apprenticeship programs.
  • Familiarity with state/federal funding streams (e.g., WIOA, TOPS, MJ Foster Promise) and grant-supported initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise and develop faculty and staff, including hiring, onboarding, performance evaluations, mentoring, and addressing personnel matters.
  • Plan and manage academic operations, including building and evaluating course schedules, coordinating faculty workloads, and managing instructional assignments.
  • Advance program quality and growth by guiding curriculum development, reviewing course content, and supporting accreditation and program review processes.
  • Use data to drive decisions by monitoring enrollment, program performance, student outcomes, and credential attainment.
  • Build industry and community partnerships by overseeing advisory committees and developing strategic relationships with employers and educational institutions.
  • Expand student pathways through support for dual enrollment, articulation agreements, and work-based learning opportunities.
  • Ensure compliance and funding readiness by maintaining accurate program and course data for financial aid and other funding sources.
  • Support grant lifecycle activities, including identification, development, implementation, and reporting.
  • Promote programs through collaboration with Marketing on website updates, social media, and promotional materials.
  • Manage division resources, including budgeting, expenditures, facilities, and equipment procurement.
  • Lead and coordinate division programming and support college-wide events.
  • Represent the division at convocation, committees, and professional development activities.
