About The Position

The Mercer University School of Medicine Dean’s Office seeks an Associate Dean for Student Affairs and Director of Admissions to serve as campus leadership in Columbus, Georgia. This role works directly with the Senior Associate Dean of Admissions and Student Affairs to lead and oversee programs that support students and enhance their educational experience. Areas of support include career counseling, student professional development, academic advising, and residency planning. The position allocates funds, space, staff, and faculty resources to ensure program quality, maintain appropriate accreditation, and respond to student needs. The Associate Dean is responsible for upholding the School of Medicine’s mission and participating in all aspects of MD student recruitment and selection. The role also serves as a visible advocate and spokesperson for Mercer University School of Medicine and its mission. The selected candidate is expected to understand, promote, and strongly support the school’s focus on preparing healthcare professionals to meet the primary care and healthcare needs of rural and underserved Georgia residents and communities.

Requirements

Terminal degree in a health sciences field.
At least three years of experience in medical school administration, educational leadership, or medical administration positions.
Knowledge of all aspects of the medical school and residency application processes, including MCAT, AMCAS, ERAS, VSLO, NRMP, USMLE, criminal background checks, and letters of reference.
Ability to manage a major unit of the medical school and provide supervision of faculty, curriculum, and accreditation at all three MUSM campus locations.
Demonstrated ability to provide leadership and collaborate with other units within the medical school and university-wide.
Strong interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills.
Demonstrated ability to work successfully with faculty and school leadership.
Ability to mentor faculty and staff.

Nice To Haves

Work collaboratively with other medical school and university-wide units to support the medical school’s mission.
Mentor faculty and staff.
