About The Position

WittKieffer is partnering with The Charles E. Schmidt College of Medicine at Florida Atlantic University to find the next Associate Dean for Medical Education. This is a key faculty leadership role responsible for undergraduate medical education, including curriculum, assessment, accreditation, and educational innovation. Florida Atlantic University is a public research university with a growing reputation and significant achievements. The Schmidt College of Medicine, established to address healthcare needs, has a community-based model and partners with local hospitals for graduate medical education. The College offers various degree programs and certificates. The Associate Dean will report to the Vice Dean for Medical Education and provide strategic leadership for the integrated four-year undergraduate medical education program. This role involves guiding curriculum evolution, advancing new areas in medical education, overseeing quality and accreditation, mentoring directors, and fostering collaboration. The Associate Dean will also serve as an ambassador, building relationships with health systems and stakeholders to expand clinical education opportunities. The successful candidate will possess vision, innovation, and relationship-building skills to support the College's growth and educational excellence.

Requirements

  • An M.D. or D.O. degree from an accredited institution.
  • Completion of a U.S.-accredited residency program.
  • Credentials that merit appointment at the rank of Associate Professor or Professor.
  • Board certified or board eligible in their specialty.
  • Hold a current U.S. medical license.
  • Eligible for Florida licensure.
  • Significant leadership experience in undergraduate medical education.
  • Significant experience in curriculum development and innovation.
  • Significant experience in faculty development.
  • Significant experience in accreditation.

Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic leadership and oversight for the College of Medicine's integrated four-year undergraduate medical education program.
  • Guide the continued evolution of an innovative, learner-centered curriculum, ensuring seamless integration across pre-clinical and clinical years.
  • Advance emerging areas of medical education such as health systems science, artificial intelligence, nutrition, and point-of-care ultrasound.
  • Oversee curriculum quality, assessment, accreditation readiness, and continuous quality improvement efforts.
  • Mentor and support course and clerkship directors.
  • Foster collaboration among faculty, academic leaders, and community-based clinical partners.
  • Cultivate strong relationships with health systems, physician groups, and community stakeholders to expand and sustain high-quality clinical education opportunities.
