About The Position

Provide leadership to ensure teaching excellence and student success in academic and workforce programs at Collin College.

Requirements

  • Master's degree from an accredited institution.
  • Five (5) years of higher education experience is required, with two (2) years of administrative-level experience in higher education.

Nice To Haves

  • A doctoral degree from an accredited institution is preferred.
  • One (1) year of teaching in higher education preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for students, faculty, and staff for the assigned disciplines on the campus.
  • Facilitate resolution of student complaints/concerns in a constructive, fair, and balanced manner working with faculty, associate faculty, academic advisors, Dean of Students Office, and other departments as needed.
  • Provide leadership in the hiring and performance management of the academic division consistent with core values and the college’s academic standards.
  • Encourage teaching excellence and collaboration to promote academic and student success in the division through performance evaluations, goal setting, and professional development.
  • Regularly review faculty performance and make faculty contract recommendations.
  • Provide leadership and monitor progress in the implementation of the college strategic plan for the division.
  • Collaborate with the dean to develop and implement the division's strategic plan annually.
  • Prepare reports, and analyze division and discipline-level data for data-driven decisions.
  • Assist the dean in developing new programs and certificates.
  • Coordinate discipline and program review processes in accordance with the guidelines of the Academic Services Office.
  • Oversee workforce program compliance with college, accreditation, and the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board (THECB) requirements, if applicable.
  • Provide leadership in promoting, evaluating, and growing baccalaureate and other assigned programs.
  • Serve as liaison between the academic division and various departments, programs, and services to coordinate dual credit offerings, service learning, the honors institute, and honor societies.
  • Plan, develop, and promote strategies for improving instruction, retention, completion, discipline-specific academic advising, and related initiatives.
  • Assist the dean in developing class schedules.
  • Assign faculty schedule/load and ensure compliance with academic policies, procedures, and guidelines of Collin College, THECB, and the Southern Association of Colleges and Commission on Colleges.
  • Assist in formulating and recommending the annual budget for the assigned disciplines.
  • Recommend capital equipment and supplies necessary for the effective implementation and maintenance of educational programs and labs within the division.
  • Foster effective communication between faculty, staff, and administrators within the division, as well as with other areas of the college.
  • Interact and work collaboratively with other members of the college community in areas.
  • Participate in business/industry events and cultivate productive working relationships with business/industry partners.
  • Remain current on business/industry changes as they apply to assigned disciplines.
  • Remain current on certifications/licensures required for assigned disciplines.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Perform all duties to maintain all standards in accordance with College policies, procedures, and core values.
