Associate Data Center Technician - Onsite
About The Position
Genesis10 is seeking an Associate Data Center Technician for a 12-month contract opportunity with a Global Professional Network in Richardson, TX. This role involves troubleshooting hardware failures, installing new SSD and NVME drives, and installing, terminating, and testing copper and fiber network cabling. Working under senior technicians, the Associate Data Center Technician will be crucial in maintaining the stability and performance of enterprise computer systems. The position requires responding to system problems on a 24x7 basis and participating in an on-call rotation. Responsibilities also include assisting with OS-level and network troubleshooting and processing server nodes for decommissioning.
Requirements
- 2 years in a Data Center Engineering Role
- 2 years Linux troubleshooting experience
- 2 years server hardware troubleshooting experience
Nice To Haves
- Experience with structured network cabling installation, termination, and testing (copper and fiber)
- Experience with network configuration and troubleshooting
- Familiarity with server hardware components and troubleshooting
- A plus certification
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills
- Attention to detail
Responsibilities
- Installation, routing, termination, and testing of structured network cabling (Cat5e/Cat6/Cat6a copper and fiber optic)
- Dressing, labeling, and management of network cabling in accordance with industry standards
- Troubleshooting and resolution of cabling and physical-layer connectivity issues
- Troubleshooting and resolution of failed hard drives and DIMMs within server nodes
- Installation of new SSD and NVME hard drives into existing servers
- Troubleshooting and resolution of console connectivity, power supply, and RDU issues
- Troubleshooting and resolution of all tier 1 server hardware break fix issues
- Respond to all system problems on a 24x7 basis and take part in an on-call rotation
- Assist Data Center Technicians in OS level and network troubleshooting
- Process server nodes for decommissioning
