About The Position

This remote Customer Service Representative role is based in Brooklyn or Rossford, Ohio. The role involves participating in up to a year-long formal call center training program that provides knowledge and skills needed to resolve and respond to customer inquiries regarding the Company's health insurance products and services. The specialist will navigate systems and provide customer service in accordance with established quality expectations and service philosophy. The call center operates Monday - Sunday, 8:00 AM - 8:00 PM (EST), with a training schedule of Monday - Friday, 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM (EST). Medical Mutual, founded in 1934, is one of the oldest and largest health insurance companies in Ohio, serving over 1.2 million members with various insurance plans.

Requirements

  • Associates Degree in Business Administration, Communications or a related field, or equivalent combination of education/training (minimum high school diploma or GED) and experience.
  • 2 years of additional customer service experience in Healthcare, Banking, Retail, Hospitality, or other related industry, preferably in a contact center.
  • Basic computer navigation and Microsoft Office skills.
  • Knowledge of standard customer service practices and principles.
  • Knowledge of standard office procedures and equipment (multi-function copier/printer/scanner, conference phone, etc.)

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Basic knowledge of health insurance products and services preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Participates in a phased classroom and on the job training program in order to learn and be able to apply knowledge and skills needed to perform job.
  • Responds to routine to moderately complex inquiries from customers through telephone, written correspondence, email, chat and in person (walk-ins) after successfully completing the established training requirements.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
