About The Position

The Associate, Credit Risk position at Goldman Sachs & Co. LLC in Salt Lake City, Utah involves conducting counterparty research reviews and internal credit ratings analyses. This includes assessing industry fundamentals, developing financial projection models, and evaluating quantitative and qualitative factors related to creditworthiness. The role requires recommending and defending internal and regulatory risk ratings, performing ongoing surveillance of assigned counterparties, identifying potential risks, and escalating them as needed. The associate will present findings and recommendations to senior management and provide training to new hires and junior analysts on industry-specific topics and risk management processes. Additionally, the role involves assisting in the validation and updating of internal risk management methodologies and supporting junior team members in project execution to enhance team processes and efficiency.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree (U.S. or foreign equivalent) in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field and one (1) year of experience in the job offered or a related role; OR Bachelor’s degree (U.S. or foreign equivalent) in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field and three (3) years of experience in the job offered or a related role.
  • Applying accounting methods (both Generally Accepted Accounting Principle and International Financial Reporting Standards) to analyze financial reports and explain performance variances.
  • Working with regulatory processes such as the Shared National Credit (SNC) or Allowance for Loan and Lease Losses (ALLL).
  • Building financial models in Excel using advanced functionality, including macros, pivot tables, v-lookup, slicers, and h-lookup and Microsoft PowerPoint, to produce and present analytical insights and highlight data trends.
  • Utilizing Business Intelligence Software solution including Tableau.
  • Working with derivatives, loans and other products that give rise to credit risk to institutional counterparties.

Responsibilities

  • Complete counterparty research reviews and internal credit ratings analyses.
  • Assess industry fundamentals, build financial projection models, and evaluate quantitative metrics and qualitative factors supporting creditworthiness.
  • Recommend and defend internal and regulatory risk ratings for counterparts/transactions.
  • Conduct ongoing surveillance and monitoring for assigned portfolio of counterparties.
  • Identify potential risks and escalate as appropriate.
  • Present findings and recommendations to senior management and answer questions relating to analysis performed.
  • Provide industry-specific training and review process / conceptual training to new hires and junior analysts.
  • Assist in validating and updating internal risk management methodologies.
  • Assist junior team members in executing deliverables across various projects to improve team processes and drive efficiencies.
