About The Position

This role involves assessing the credit and financial strength of corporate counterparts by performing fundamental credit analysis of both quantitative and qualitative credit factors. The position is responsible for assessing and managing the risk of loss resulting from counterparty failure across the firm’s trading and credit businesses. Key duties include approving transactions, setting and monitoring credit exposure limits, measuring credit exposure and losses from counterparty default, and conducting in-depth analyses of credit events and sector/regional concentrations. The role also requires recommending and defending internal and regulatory risk ratings, performing counterparty research, and presenting findings to senior management.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree (U.S. or foreign equivalent) in Finance, Computational Finance and Risk Management, Economics, or a related field and one (1) year of experience in job offered or a related role OR Bachelor’s degree (U.S. or foreign equivalent) in Finance, Computational Finance and Risk Management, Economics, or a related field and three (3) years of experience in job offered or a related role.
  • One (1) year (with master’s degree) or three (3) years (with bachelor’s degree) of experience working with derivatives, loans and other products that give rise to credit risk to institutional counterparties.
  • Applying accounting methods (both Generally Accepted Accounting Principle and International Financial Reporting Standards) to analyze financial reports and explain performance variances.
  • Building financial models in Excel using advanced functionality, including macros, pivot tables, v-lookup, slicers, and h-lookup and Microsoft PowerPoint, to produce and present analytical insights and highlight data trends.
  • Utilizing Business Intelligence Software solutions, including Tableau, to provide actionable insights for Business decisions.
  • Credit risk management experience, with a background in corporate credit risk.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with regulatory rating requirements and application of such guidance is preferred.
  • Experience with credit regulatory processes such as the Shared National Credit (SNC) or Allowance for Loan and Lease Losses (ALLL).

Responsibilities

  • Assess the credit and financial strength of corporate counterparts by performing fundamental credit analysis of both quantitative and qualitative credit factors.
  • Assess and manage the risk of loss resulting from the failure of a counterparty to meet its contractual obligations across the firm’s trading and credit businesses.
  • Approve transactions, set credit exposure limits, and monitor adherence to those limits.
  • Measure credit exposure and losses from counterparty default.
  • Conduct in-depth analyses related to causes and effects of credit events.
  • Conduct sector and/or regional (i.e. country) based concentration analyses.
  • Recommend and defend internal and regulatory risk ratings for counterparts/transactions as required.
  • Perform counterparty research reviews and analysis of corporate counterparts.
  • Present findings and recommendations to senior management and answer questions relating to analysis performed.
  • Proactively monitor and assess counterparts and industry subsectors based on market indicators, regulatory guidance, rating agency commentary, and counterparty surveillance.
  • Report relevant information and its impact to senior management in a timely manner.
