Associate Counsel
About The Position
Setpoint is building the infrastructure that powers credit relationships, enabling banks, credit funds, asset managers, and capital markets counterparties to operate with trust and efficiency. They are looking for an Associate Counsel to join their team. The ideal candidate will bring expertise across capital markets, structured finance, and technology transactions, acting as both a legal advisor and a commercial partner. This role is critical for supporting Setpoint's growth by building scalable legal processes, negotiating complex agreements, and guiding customers and partners through the evolving credit ecosystem.
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience drafting and negotiating a variety of capital markets and finance agreements and related documentation, including asset backed facilities.
- JD degree from a top tier law school
- Admission to the New York bar in good standing
- Ability to prioritize appropriately, and meet deadlines in a high-pressure environment
- Flexible, positive, and team oriented approach to work
Nice To Haves
- Fintech experience and/or in-house experience at a bank or financial institution is a plus.
- Proficiency with AI tools a plus.
Responsibilities
- Work closely with the VP, Legal and Sales Team to oversee all legal aspects of customer documentation and capital markets technology products
- Draft and negotiate SaaS and other customer agreements
- Review and negotiate documentation in connection with our technology platform services and our Capital Solutions team
- Keep up to speed with industry trends and legal and regulatory market changes
