About The Position

Latham & Watkins is seeking highly qualified associates with a minimum of two full years of experience to join their 3rd through 6th year associate class within the Insurance Mergers & Acquisitions practice. This role involves advising businesses and institutions on complex transactions, leveraging the firm's global reach and deep industry expertise. The practice group is a global powerhouse in M&A, handling routine to highly complex deals, and also has a strong Private Equity practice advising leading firms on a full spectrum of transactions. Associates will be expected to protect and maintain confidential, privileged, financial, and proprietary information.

Requirements

  • Minimum of two full years of experience.
  • Qualified applicants with criminal histories will be considered in a manner consistent with the City of Los Angeles Fair Chance Initiative for Hiring Ordinance (FCIHO).
  • Qualified applicants with arrest and conviction records will be considered pursuant to the San Francisco Fair Chance Ordinance.

Responsibilities

  • Advise businesses and institutions on complex transactions.
  • Execute on the business objectives of a diversified client base.
  • Anticipate and work through potential challenges on transactions.
  • Develop effective solutions to challenges in an ever-changing global environment.
  • Address shareholder activism, antitrust challenges, and navigate dynamic regulatory regimes.
  • Provide advisory services including board counselling, capital markets, ESG, executive compensation, leveraged finance, and tax-related advice.
  • Advise leading private equity firms through the full spectrum of transactions from initial investment through to exit.
  • Steer deals representing significant US dollar amounts.
  • Deliver seamless and responsive support to private equity clients at every stage of a fund’s lifecycle.
  • Execute transactions anywhere in the world, including sophisticated cross-border carve-outs, tax-free spinoffs, and multi-billion-dollar going-private transactions.
  • Cut through complex global regulatory environments and decode industry jargon.
  • Understand each fund’s strategy and anticipate client needs.
  • Protect and maintain highly sensitive, confidential, privileged, financial and/or proprietary information.
