About The Position

This role supports the Global Banking and Markets (GBM) team in managing marketing activities for capital markets products and lending portfolios. The Associate will handle or assist with credit-related activities, including credit presentations, identifying lending and cross-sell opportunities, structuring loan transactions, performing due diligence, negotiating documentation, and monitoring compliance and industry trends. The Associate will work closely with a Director to manage a diversified portfolio of Atlantic Canadian clients across various sectors. Scotiabank is a leading corporate bank in Atlantic Canada, offering exposure to complex and high-profile banking mandates.

Requirements

  • 3-5 years of experience in Corporate Banking
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Financial modelling experience
  • Strong computer skills including the use of MS Office, Excel, Word, PowerPoint
  • Business development capabilities
  • Flexible to demands of work and viewed as a valuable team resource
  • High attention to detail with a sense of urgency appropriate to the situation
  • Strong time management skills and driven to achieve timelines and goals

Nice To Haves

  • BComm, MBA/CFA designation is an asset
  • experience with CoPilot is an asset

Responsibilities

  • Provide day to day account management support
  • Structure, analyze and perform due diligence on transactions that vary in complexity
  • Develop recommendations for the appropriate course of action
  • Analyze, process and execute credit requests
  • Research credit and bank product requirements of existing and prospective clients
  • Ensure credit files, agreements and security documents are complete and up to date
  • Monitor and follow for client compliance
  • Assist with the preparation of marketing pitches
  • Coordinate with various product groups within GBM
  • Develop and maintain effective industry relationships with other lenders, legal counsel, clients
  • Assist with strategic portfolio projects and reporting
