About The Position

The Associate, Corporate Communications supports the company's government affairs, public affairs, and stakeholder engagement initiatives. This position helps advance Liberty's role in tire recycling, circularity, sustainable materials, environmental stewardship, and responsible end-of-life tire management. The Associate, Corporate Communications supports the Vice President, Corporate Affairs in managing relationships and communications with policymakers, regulatory agencies, industry associations, nonprofit organizations, and other external stakeholders. The role is suited for an early-career professional with strong research, writing, project management, and relationship management skills who has an interest in public policy, sustainability, recycling, manufacturing, or public affairs.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Public Policy, Political Science, Communications, Environmental Studies, Sustainability, Economics, Government, or a related field.
  • One to three years of relevant professional experience, including internships, in public affairs, government relations, legislative research, policy analysis, communications, sustainability, consulting, trade associations, government, nonprofit advocacy, or a related field.
  • Exceptional writing, editing, research, and proofreading skills with the ability to create concise, accurate, audience-appropriate materials.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills, including the ability to manage deadlines, maintain detailed records, and coordinate multiple priorities simultaneously.
  • Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills with the ability to work effectively with a wide variety of stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook, and Teams.
  • Ability to work independently while contributing to team objectives.
  • Strong attention to detail, follow-through, and professional judgment.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience using online research databases, legislative tracking tools, and collaboration platforms preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in monitoring federal, state, and local legislative, regulatory, procurement, grant, and agency developments affecting tire recycling, waste tire management, recycled materials, environmental compliance, and circular economy initiatives.
  • Prepare policy briefs, issue summaries, talking points, stakeholder backgrounders, meeting preparation materials, testimony outlines, comment letter drafts, and internal leadership updates.
  • Support preparation for meetings with elected officials, legislative staff, regulators, agency personnel, public procurement officials, and other government stakeholders.
  • Coordinate stakeholder outreach activities, including invitations, follow-up communications, meeting scheduling, agenda development, briefing materials, attendance tracking, and post-meeting action items.
  • Translate technical, operational, regulatory, and sustainability information into clear and credible communications for nontechnical audiences.
  • Monitor news coverage, public discussions, trade media, policy announcements, stakeholder communications, and social media activity; prepare summaries and recommend follow-up actions as appropriate.
  • Support the development and maintenance of reporting tools, calendars, trackers, stakeholder maps, briefing templates, project plans, and communication materials.
  • Maintain organized records of stakeholder interactions, communications, and project activities.
  • Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.
