About The Position

As an Associate Controls Engineer, you will be crucial to ALC’s business through the designing of building automation systems created specifically for each individual customer. We are looking for someone who works well in a team and has excellent problem-solving, time management, and multi-tasking skills. You will work to build new skills and advance existing skills while completing smaller projects on your own.

Requirements

  • Associate degree OR High School Diploma or GED with 2+ years of HVAC industry experience.
  • Must possess a valid, current Driver’s License and be insurable by the company’s insurance carrier.
  • Ability to lift items up to 50 lbs and perform physical tasks such as squatting and climbing for extended periods.
  • Capable of working over 8 feet above grade and proficient in the use of ladders and motorized lift equipment.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in an engineering or construction discipline.
  • Experience in HVAC controls, Building Automation, or related industry.
  • Proven ability to act as a technical authority and mentor junior engineers in a collaborative field environment.
  • Executes turnkey building automation solutions with minimal oversight, focusing on high-quality field execution and resource management.
  • High skills-level proficiency in integrating diverse platforms and managing complex TCP/IP and wireless networking.
  • Advanced diagnostic skills for resolving high-level technical challenges in controls, sensors, and software, at the equipment and system level.
  • Dedicated to delivering site-specific technical training to building owners and operators while maintaining clear documentation.

Responsibilities

  • Design and program building automation systems, site-specific configuration of control system, and control algorithms.
  • Adhere to project requirements and company and customer standards of design, programming, and implementation.
  • Create a clear design document for project teams with technical information.
  • Document and communicate the building automation system design and revisions.
  • Develop graphical and text-based interfaces for building automation systems.
  • Test programming and interfaces prior to implementation.
  • Provide technical support to sales representatives to ensure customers’ needs are met.
  • Identify and communicate project opportunities and risks.
  • Support functional testing for building systems.
