About The Position

Harris Group is looking for an Associate Control Systems Engineer to work with a multidisciplinary team of engineers on a variety of industrial applications. This opportunity will be based in Harris Group’s Portland office. The ideal candidate will be a self-starter with a background in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent) and a desire to develop in the Automation and Instrumentation discipline. Requirements

Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent, and 0 - 2 years of relevant experience in PLC programming and HMI or SCADA configuration.
Willingness to travel up to 20% of the year required.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Self-starter with a strong work ethic, curiosity, and a problem-solving mindset.
Ability to use a computer and software programs, such as AutoCAD.
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel preferred.

Responsibilities

Apply standard engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria on varied and diverse projects.
Supporting control system testing, equipment commissioning, and field testing.
Field information gathering and surveying.
PLC, DCS, HMI and SCADA system planning, design, programming, and upgrade.
Developing drawings and specifications for construction.
Equipment selection, cost estimating, and equipment layout.
Ability and willingness to travel to an off-site location and/or accept client site assignments when required.
