About The Position

Do you enjoy investigating complex issues, negotiating solutions, and delivering exceptional customer service? We're seeking an Associate Claims Specialist to join our Claims team. In this role, you'll investigate, evaluate, negotiate, and resolve liability, bodily injury, and property damage claims, including claims involving litigation. You'll work directly with insureds, claimants, attorneys, and industry professionals to ensure claims are handled fairly, efficiently, and in accordance with company standards and regulatory requirements. Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and related experience.
  • 1-2 years of experience in a liability claims environment preferred.
  • Strong analytical, investigative, and negotiation skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Commitment to delivering exceptional customer service.

Nice To Haves

  • Completion of or enrollment in Insurance Institute or CPCU coursework.
  • Experience handling bodily injury, liability, or property damage claims.
  • Knowledge of litigation processes and claims documentation requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Investigate coverage and determine probable liability exposure.
  • Establish and maintain appropriate claim reserves.
  • Investigate, document, evaluate, and negotiate settlements for bodily injury and property damage claims.
  • Develop and execute strategic action plans to move claims toward resolution.
  • Continuously evaluate claim exposures and reserve adequacy throughout the life of the claim.
  • Monitor pending claims and conduct regular file reviews to ensure timely progress.
  • Coordinate subrogation and physical damage claim activities.
  • Maintain strong working relationships with independent adjusters and other business partners.
  • Proactively communicate with insureds throughout the claims process, providing outstanding customer service and timely updates.
  • Identify and report potential risks or trends to Safety and Underwriting teams.
  • Assign and collaborate with defense counsel when litigation is involved.
  • Coordinate the collection of information, documentation, and witness statements.
  • Partner with attorneys and insureds to achieve favorable claim outcomes.
  • Attend mediations, trials, and other legal proceedings as needed.
  • Continuously evaluate opportunities for timely claim resolution.
  • Maintain current knowledge of state liability and negligence laws.
  • Stay informed on medical terminology and emerging claims-related issues.
  • Participate in ongoing professional development and continuing education opportunities.
