About The Position

Adventist Health Simi Valley is seeking an Associate Chaplain for a per diem position working 8-hour day shifts. This role provides spiritual counseling, support, and care in line with the beliefs and desires of patients, family members, and interdisciplinary team members during times of spiritual distress or crisis. The position is located onsite at our Simi Valley, CA location.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in theology, spirituality, pastoral ministry or equivalent subject matter accredited from a US Department of Education Approved Organization: Required
• Ecclesiastical endorsement from the chaplain’s respective denomination or faith tradition: Required

Nice To Haves

• Master of Divinity degree accredited from a US Department of Education Approved Organization: Preferred

Responsibilities

• Provides pastoral care services on an on-call basis for patients in various situations, such as those undergoing surgical procedures, facing end-of-life issues and following traumatic accidents.
• Provides comfort and support for patient family members and friends.
• Responds to requests for pastoral care in a timely manner.
• Ensures the religious and spiritual needs of patients and their loved ones are met.
• Acts as a spiritual resource for staff.
• Accountable to the organizational mission, core vision and values.
• Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
