About The Position

Replacements, Ltd. is hiring a full-time Associate Buyer to join our Buying Team. At Replacements, we help customers create memorable experiences by connecting them with pieces that help celebrate life's milestones, preserve traditions, and create new memories. As the world's largest retailer of tableware, we are continually seeking opportunities to expand our unique inventory and meet customer demand. In this role, you will support the sourcing and acquisition of china, crystal, silver, collectibles, and other home goods through retail, e-commerce, and wholesale channels. Working closely with experienced buyers and vendor partners, you'll use market research, trend analysis, and relationship management to identify purchasing opportunities, help expand our inventory, and connect customers with the pieces they need to complete collections, preserve traditions, and create new memories. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who is curious, analytical, and eager to build a career in buying, merchandising, product sourcing, or inventory management while making a meaningful impact in a one-of-a-kind business environment. You'll have the opportunity to develop expertise in purchasing, market analysis, vendor management, and product acquisition while learning from experienced professionals within a growing team. This is an on-site position based at our headquarters in McLeansville, NC.

Requirements

  • Previous buying, merchandising, retail purchasing, inventory planning, or related experience required; equivalent experience will be considered.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with attention to detail.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple responsibilities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Effective relationship-building and negotiation skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel, Word, and Outlook.
  • Commitment to delivering outstanding customer service.
  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities and business needs.
  • Curiosity and a willingness to learn about products, markets, and purchasing practices.
  • Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate degree or bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain, Retail Merchandising, or a related field preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Research, evaluate, and recommend products that align with customer demand, inventory needs, and business objectives.
  • Analyze sales trends, inventory levels, product requests, and market conditions to support purchasing decisions and identify sourcing opportunities.
  • Support product sourcing activities across retail, e-commerce, and wholesale channels.
  • Build and maintain positive vendor relationships and assist with pricing, shipping, returns, and other purchasing-related matters.
  • Monitor market trends, product availability, and industry developments to support informed purchasing decisions.
  • Travel locally, as needed, to conduct market research and identify potential product opportunities.
  • Prepare and process purchase orders; track shipments, monitor open orders, and follow up on outstanding issues.
  • Research products, vendors, and historical pattern information using a variety of resources, including online tools and databases.
  • Maintain accurate product, vendor, and purchasing information within company systems.
  • Reconcile purchasing transactions and assist in resolving invoice, payment, shipping, and receipt discrepancies.
  • Coordinate product return processes and assist with vendor-related issue resolution.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support inventory management, product setup, and operational objectives.
  • Share purchasing recommendations, trend observations, and supporting analysis with buyers and other stakeholders.
  • Provide exceptional internal and external customer service while supporting departmental and organizational goals.
  • Assist with reporting, administrative tasks, and special projects as assigned.
