About The Position

NYU Langone Hospital—Long Island is a 591-bed university-affiliated medical center offering sophisticated diagnostic and therapeutic care. The Associate, Business Services, Home Health Care role is responsible for all clerical activities related to the clinical team, assisting nursing and administrative staff to meet agency and institutional goals.

Requirements

  • High School or GED.
  • 1 - 2 years Business or Healthcare facility experience.
  • Excellent communication skills (both oral & written), interpersonal and organizational skills.
  • Proficient computer skills.
  • Knowledge of Medical Terminology.
  • Qualified candidates must be able to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Retrieve referrals from Hospital Intake Department via fax or e-mail.
  • Receive referrals and roster from intake unit daily.
  • Key appropriate data into computer system to complete patient admission into WUHCHHA.
  • Copy and distribute referrals to the appropriate team supervisor and/or business service associate by 3:00 pm.
  • Track field staff as needed.
  • Rotate to schedule work for the weekend.
  • Answer patient and insurer calls in a timely manner.
  • Screen and route all phone calls as necessary.
  • Confirm staffing schedule for weekends/holidays.
  • Assign work for weekends/holidays.
  • Copy and complete assignment sheets for weekends/holidays.
  • Collect coverage sheets for the team for weekends/holidays.
  • Prepare supplies and various items for weekend nursing staff.
  • Perform photocopying and filing as necessary.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in the use of business and clinical computer systems.
  • Contact the appropriate department to arrange for installation/repair of related equipment.
  • Order all supplies, DME, labs, and transportation as needed.
  • Utilize technology to improve productivity and process.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
