About The Position

Capital Markets at CIBC provides integrated services and products for investors, as well as corporate and institutional clients around the world. Our Capital Markets business is recognized as an industry leader specializing in investment banking advisory, corporate lending, and research. The Payments division in Capital Markets includes Alternate Solutions Group and Global Transaction Banking, these business lines are focused on helping our clients achieve their ambitions. As an Associate you will support the Capital Markets Business Management team within Payments. You will act as a liaison between the business and key stakeholders and infrastructure partners on governance and controls matters. You’ll also assist with business, regulatory, and compliance initiatives as needed. At CIBC we enable the work environment most optimal for you to thrive in your role. Requirements

  • Hold an undergraduate degree in business or an equivalent field.
  • Understand Capital Markets.
  • Experience or a strong understanding of financial services, including business lines, products, and services, and are familiar with the operational, regulatory, and reputation risks in this space.
  • Experience in compliance, operational risk, controls, and governance functions is an asset.
  • Comfortable with business tools such as Excel, Word, PowerPoint, SharePoint, and PowerBI.
  • Know that teamwork leads to better outcomes and you’re skilled at building consensus across multiple partners through strong communication skills.
  • Motivated by achieving goals, can manage multiple priorities, and deliver results within tight deadlines.

Responsibilities

  • Support the completion of change and risk assessments for new initiatives, coordinate investigations and reporting on regulatory and operational incidents, and support Business Continuity Planning milestones.
  • Coordinate responses to auditor and regulator requests and assist with CIBC governance functions such as user system access, shared folders, contract reviews, records management, and oversight of business-managed technology.
  • Work with Finance to support expense management and review and perform physical and logical security checks.
  • Assist with updates to business policies and procedures, identify and implement process enhancements to improve operational efficiency and support regulatory and compliance requirements.
  • Support the business with project implementation, including the development of new policies and procedures, preparation of presentation materials, and tracking and reporting on strategic initiatives.
  • Represent the business on project working groups and stakeholder meetings, and build strong relationships with partners across the organization, including Technology, Risk Management, Compliance, Audit, and Finance.
