About The Position

The Associate, Banker - Industry/Country Coverage role at Goldman Sachs & Co. The role also entails leading deal execution, which includes preparing marketing materials, managing due diligence, negotiating legal documents, organizing roadshows, and liaising with other investment banks and internal teams.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree (U.S. or foreign equivalent) in Finance, Economics, Business Administration, Accounting, or related field and one (1) year of experience in the job offered or in a related role OR Bachelor’s degree (U.S. or foreign equivalent) in Finance, Economics, Business Administration, Accounting, or related field and three (3) years of experience in the job offered or in a related role.
  • One (1) year of experience (with Master’s degree) or three (3) years of experience (with Bachelor’s degree) with building and reviewing multi-method valuation models (e.g. traditional DCF, sensitivity analyses, Monte Carlo analyses) to value various types of assets.
  • One (1) year of experience (with Master’s degree) or three (3) years of experience (with Bachelor’s degree) with developing client-ready presentations and financial models using Microsoft Office applications including Excel and PowerPoint.
  • One (1) year of experience (with Master’s degree) or three (3) years of experience (with Bachelor’s degree) with working with investment banking professionals in connection with M&A and debt restructuring transactions, capital raising, and other financial transactions.
  • One (1) year of experience (with Master’s degree) or three (3) years of experience (with Bachelor’s degree) with presenting to executives on financial analyses and valuation of insurance instruments.
  • One (1) year of experience (with Master’s degree) or three (3) years of experience (with Bachelor’s degree) with reading and analyzing financial statements of financial services companies, as well as actuarial appraisals.
  • Domestic and international travel required up to approx. 15% of time to attend client meetings.

Responsibilities

  • Provide bespoke financial analysis services covering mergers and acquisitions, capital raising (debt and equity) including Initial Public Offerings, takeover defense, restructuring and general strategic advice to financial institution clients, specifically in the Insurance sector.
  • Drive analysis and deliverables that underpin the firm’s financial advisory services.
  • Actively participate in business development processes, including attending formal client meetings.
  • Execute work related to mandated projects, including due diligence, financial modelling and analysis, case specific transaction structuring and evaluation, process management, and general management efforts within the Insurance sector.
  • Analyze, structure, and execute transactions on behalf of corporate clients with a focus on the Insurance sector.
  • Prepare and review proprietary financial models and analysis, including merger consequences, discounted cash flow and leveraged buyout valuations, and relative valuations based on comparable companies and precedent transactions within the Insurance sector.
  • Analyze financial and regulatory statements, debt and equity filings and documents, financial projections and models prepared by insurance clients in various formats.
  • Present to insurance clients, including at the c-suite level, on topics such as strategic alternatives, industry updates, capital markets activities, restructuring alternatives and corporate governance issues at board of director meetings, conventional client meetings, and conference calls.
  • Lead deal execution, including preparing marketing materials, running due diligence processes, negotiating non-disclosure agreements and other legal documents with legal and third-party representatives, organizing and attending deal and non-deal roadshow meetings, and liaising with other investment banks and other internal teams.
