About The Position

Boeing Defense Space & Security (BDS) is looking for Associate Avionics Repair and Modification Technicians to join our B-52 team in San Antonio, TX. This role involves performing various tasks related to the repair and modification of avionics systems on the B-52 aircraft. Responsibilities include connector terminations, troubleshooting, interpreting technical documentation, and performing electrical modifications and repairs. The position also requires adherence to safety procedures, material handling, and the operation of specific equipment. Successful candidates must pass an assessment during the training cycle and meet U.S. export control compliance requirements.

Requirements

  • 4+ years of experience with maintenance of avionics and/or electronic equipment (Comm Nav, Data Links, Weapons, Radar, Electronic Warfare
  • 4+ years of experience reading and interpreting drawings, specifications, material processes, schematics and diagrams
  • 4+ years of experience with software, media and file command installation to operate newly installed systems
  • 4+ years of experience with component and wire installation to include repairing, modifying, testing and troubleshooting new, experimental, and disturbed systems
  • Ability to work variable shifts (i.e. scheduled and unscheduled overtime; weekends and holidays) to support mission requirements and workload
  • Ability to pass an assessment during the training cycle
  • Must meet U.S. export control compliance requirements. To meet U.S. export control compliance requirements, a “U.S. Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. §120.62 is required. “U.S. Person” includes U.S. Citizen, U.S. National, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.
  • Ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship. An interim and/or final U.S. Secret Clearance Post-Start is required.

Responsibilities

  • Perform connector terminations including shielded wires, coaxial cables, and fiber optic wiring
  • Solve problems that cannot be solved solely by referencing manufacturers manual
  • Understand routing instructions and handling of harnesses
  • Perform sealing, wrapping, bonding, tying, and closure of wire harnesses and cables in accordance with standard processes
  • Diagnose and correct malfunctions occurring in assembly processes
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings, technical orders, process specification, and retrofit requirements to perform electrical modifications and repairs
  • Use tooling assemblies and fixtures for depot level modification and repair of electrical wiring
  • Perform assembly, installation, visual inspection of physical characteristics, modification of wire bundles & electrical assemblies, operational and quality checks of aircraft
  • Troubleshoot organizational and depot maintenance level malfunctions in aircraft electrical and comms/nav-systems
  • Interpret standard work instructions, charts, tables, blueprints, wire diagrams, formulas, sketches, verbal and electronic orders, job layouts, etc.
  • Use all equipment in accordance with established safety and operating procedures
  • Perform all tasks involved in the coordination, preparation, and movement of material and tools
  • Operate riding type electric powered elevating equipment to accomplish work assignments
  • Experience with Hazardous Energy and Lock Out /Tag systems applications to ensure working environment safe for access
  • Ascend and descend vertical work ladders, work in confined spaces, and lift loads of approximately 35 pounds
