About The Position

USAA is seeking an Associate Auto Adjuster through the SkillBridge program. This role involves handling simple liability, evaluating, and settling a high volume of low complexity auto claims with repairable vehicles. The adjuster will resolve claims through proactive problem-solving and decision-making within authority guidelines and under direct supervision. Key responsibilities include documenting the thought process for damage evaluation, investigation, negotiation, and settlement decisions, collaborating with internal and external partners, and supporting members, business partners, and claimants through various communication channels, including digital tools. The role requires acquiring and applying foundational knowledge of P&C insurance industry products, services, policy contracts, coverages, and internal claims handling processes. The position also involves supporting workload surges and catastrophe (CAT) response operations, which may include mandatory on-call dates and work outside normal hours, potentially involving travel with minimal notice. The adjuster will work various claim types, including those of higher complexity, and may be assigned additional duties as needed. Ensuring risks are identified, measured, monitored, and controlled according to policies and procedures is also a key aspect of the role.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or General Equivalency Diploma.
  • 1 year or more of military experience.
  • Acquisition and maintenance of insurance adjuster license within week 2 of training and 3 testing attempts.
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize and multi-task, including navigating through multiple business applications.
  • Successful completion of a job-related assessment may be required.

  • Currently serving in the military and you will be eligible to participate in a SkillBridge program in the Spring or Summer of 2026.
  • Ability to get permission from your commander to participate in the SkillBridge program.

Responsibilities

  • Applies appropriate coverage and handles simple liability, evaluates, and settles high volume and low complexity auto claims with repairable vehicles.
  • Resolves claims through proactive problem solving and decision making, within authority guidelines and under direct supervision, overcoming obstacles, and effectively prioritizing the workload.
  • Clearly documents thought process including damage evaluation, investigation, negotiation, and settlement decisions.
  • Collaborates and sets expectations with external and internal business partners to facilitate claims resolution.
  • Supports members, business partners, and claimants, through use of varying communication channels to include utilization of digital tools to drive timely and effective resolutions through exceptional service.
  • Acquires and applies a foundational knowledge of P&C insurance industry products, services, to include P&C insurance policy contracts, coverages and internal claims handling process and procedures.
  • Applies basic knowledge of Auto Physical Damage.
  • Supports workload surges and catastrophe (CAT) response operations as needed, including mandatory on-call dates and potential evening, weekend, and/or holiday work outside normal work hours.
  • May be assigned CAT deployment travel with minimal notice during designated CATs.
  • Works various types of claims, including ones of higher complexity, and may be assigned additional work outside normal duties as needed.
  • Ensures risks associated with business activities are effectively identified, measured, monitored, and controlled in accordance with risk and compliance policies and procedures.
