About The Position

An established California law firm is seeking an Unlawful Detainer Attorney to handle high-volume eviction and landlord-tenant litigation matters. The role involves managing cases from intake through trial, including drafting pleadings, conducting discovery, negotiating settlements, and making frequent in-person court appearances. Ideal candidates will have strong litigation skills, deep knowledge of California landlord-tenant law, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.

Requirements

  • Teamwork: Ability to work independently while managing multiple matters and collaborating with a supportive team.
  • Client Interaction: Excellent communication and persuasive speaking skills to effectively interact with clients and colleagues.
  • Legal Research: Proficiency in legal research to gather and analyze case law and statutes relevant to unlawful detainer cases.
  • Writing Skills: Strong writing skills to draft pleadings, motions, discovery, and settlement agreements.
  • Licensed and admitted to practice in the State of California.

Responsibilities

  • Drafting Notices: Prepare 3-Day and 30-Day Notices for the tenant.
  • Preparing Complaints and Responses: Draft unlawful detainer complaints and responses to be filed in court.
  • Requesting Trials: Promptly request an immediate trial to expedite the process.
  • Serving Defendants: Ensure proper service of the unlawful detainer papers to the defendants.
  • Obtaining Judgments: Assist in obtaining judgments from the court.
  • May perform other duties as assigned to support department goals.
  • May occasionally work extended hours based on operational needs.
