About The Position

Clyde & Co seeks a highly motivated attorney with 3–5 years of experience in insurance coverage. The position involves representation of international and domestic insurers with regards to all manner of liability policies, including directors and officers, employment practices, professional liability, commercial general liability, and commercial auto liability policies. The opportunity is suited to someone who thrives within a busy, stimulating and fast-paced team environment, and has a strong interest in working on complex insurance coverage matters.

Requirements

  • 3–5 years of experience in insurance coverage.
  • Possesses excellent academic credentials.
  • Admitted to practice in California.
  • Has experience in working on complex insurance coverage matters.
  • Has excellent legal research, writing, and oral communication skills.
  • Has strong organizational and time-management skills.
  • Has the ability to simultaneously handle sensitive and time-sensitive matters.
  • Has effective problem-solving skills.
  • Has the ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects.
  • Is admitted to practice in California.
  • Has civil litigation experience.

Nice To Haves

  • Additional bar admissions are a plus.
  • Litigation experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze rights and obligations under insurance policies, draft coverage opinions and position letters, and provide coverage advice to clients.
  • Conduct rigorous legal research, analyze findings, and draft memoranda.
  • Prepare and analyze pleadings, discovery, motions, supporting briefs, and legal correspondence regarding insurance coverage.
  • Meet and confer with clients, opposing counsel, and other parties.
  • Attend arbitrations, hearings, and mediations, as needed.
  • Take a proactive role in managing matters, deadlines, and communication with clients.
  • Take depositions, attending hearings, and mediations as required.
  • Draft and submit pleadings, motions and briefs.
  • Prepare correspondence to colleagues and clients.
  • Conduct legal research using Westlaw/Lexis/Nexis.
  • Draft discovery requests and discovery responses.
  • Review and analyze documents and materials for production.
  • Actively investigate claims and prepare case handling strategies.
  • Actively and effectively report to our insurance carrier clients and insureds.
  • Prepare cases for trial/mediation and participate in trial/mediation.
