Our Salt Lake City office is seeking a well-rounded, highly-motivated associate attorney with a minimum of two years of General Insurance Defense experience and an eagerness to learn. The ideal candidate must be licensed to practice in Utah state and federal district courts. Additional admissions to surrounding states are preferred. This is an exceptional opportunity to handle a variety of matters with a forward-thinking firm, including General Liability, Products Liability, Executive Liability, and Business Litigation for nationwide clients.

Requirements

  • Minimum of two years’ General Insurance Defense experience.
  • Licensed to practice in Utah state and federal district courts.
  • Proactively work independently and as part of a team.
  • Demonstrate strong legal research and analytical skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail with superb organization and prioritization skills.
  • Ability to move from case to case.
  • Knowledge of both state and federal court procedures.
  • Proficiency with MS Office including Word, Excel, Outlook and navigating the internet.

Responsibilities

  • Handle a substantial caseload involving civil litigation and insurance defense litigation in areas such as medical malpractice, general, products and premises liability, financial institutions, professional liability, and business litigation.
  • Draft, prepare, and handle pleadings, motions, orders, and legal memoranda.
  • Draft and respond to written discovery and dispositive motions.
  • Conduct legal research competently and with proficiency.
  • Prepare and take depositions of parties and experts.
  • Review client documents, draft case evaluations, and status report correspondence.
  • Assist with and participate in trial preparation, mediations, and court appearances.
  • Interact directly with clients, claim professionals, opposing counsel, colleagues, and staff.
