About The Position

Parker McCay P.A. is seeking an experienced attorney to join its well-established Public Schools, Education, and Labor and Employment Law Practice Group. This position offers the opportunity to work with school boards, superintendents, business administrators, human resources professionals, and other district administrators on a wide range of legal matters impacting public education. The successful candidate will handle complex special education litigation while also advising school districts on employment, personnel, governance, and day-to-day operational issues.

Requirements

  • Juris Doctor from an accredited law school.
  • Admission to the New Jersey Bar in good standing.
  • Five (5) or more years of experience representing public school districts or other public entities in education law and/or employment law.
  • Significant experience handling special education litigation and counseling school districts on IDEA and Section 504 compliance.
  • Excellent legal research, writing, analytical, negotiation, and advocacy skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to establish trusted relationships with boards of education, administrators, and colleagues.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities while working both independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset with an interest in client development and expanding professional relationships.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with public sector labor and employment law, including collective negotiations, grievance matters, employee discipline, and personnel issues.

Responsibilities

  • Handle complex special education litigation.

  • Represent New Jersey public school districts in special education matters and/or labor and employment law affecting public employers.
