About The Position

The Associate Attorney - Litigation is responsible for prosecuting litigated personal injury matters by executing disciplined discovery, medical and expert development, and trial preparation to maximize client recovery while protecting firm risk and reputation. The mission is to move cases from litigation transfer through resolution by executing strong discovery, motion practice, and trial preparation in close partnership with leadership and legal support teams. Requirements

  • Juris Doctor (JD) and active Texas Bar license in good standing.
  • Strong understanding of discovery, motion practice, and trial preparation.
  • Ability to manage deadlines, documentation, and multiple cases.
  • Strong communication and analytical skills.
  • Proficiency with case management systems and legal technology.

Nice To Haves

  • 3+ years experience in civil litigation or personal injury litigation preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Manage a caseload of litigated personal injury matters from transfer through settlement, mediation, or trial.
  • Drive medical record development, expert coordination, and treatment documentation to support damages and liability.
  • Monitor lien exposure and case economics to protect recovery.
  • Conduct written discovery, depositions, and motion practice in accordance with firm strategy and court rules.
  • Prepare cases for mediation and trial, including witness preparation, exhibit development, and trial strategy support.
  • Develop case strategy in partnership with the Litigation Attorney Manager and Director of Litigation.
  • Do not set final MSV or settlement authority independently.
  • Escalate high-risk, high-value, or complex matters for leadership approval.
  • Support Intake, Pre-Litigation, and Litigation leadership in screening complex or litigated leads as requested.
  • Participate in consultations when needed to reinforce confidence in the firm’s litigation posture.
  • Work closely with paralegals, file clerks, and legal assistants to ensure timely filings, discovery responses, and trial preparation.
  • Provide clear direction and legal guidance to support staff assigned to cases.
  • Maintain complete, organized, and defensible case files.
  • Prepare cases for mediation, trial, or resolution without documentation gaps or deadline risk.
  • Protect the firm by meeting all court deadlines, statutes of limitation, ethical requirements, and firm policies.
  • Maintain professional conduct with clients, opposing counsel, and the court.
