About The Position

HeplerBroom LLC, a large defense firm, is currently seeking a licensed Associate Attorney for our Springfield Office. This is an ideal opportunity for attorneys with an interest in gaining experience in environmental law. Experience at HeplerBroom will include assessing strategy and preparing documents for responding to environmental violations alleged by Illinois EPA and USEPA, participating in meetings with clients and regulators regarding environmental permitting and alleged violations, making court appearances and appearing at hearings before the Illinois Pollution Control Board, researching, analyzing, and interpreting law sources such as statutes, rules and regulations, ordinances, court decisions, and legal opinions, assisting with document review, conducting depositions, writing motions and responses to discovery, and monitoring routine case files to ensure deadlines are maintained; investigating facts and legal matters to determine causes of action.

Requirements

  • Licensed Associate Attorney
  • Good standing with the Illinois bar
  • Strong interest and desire to learn environmental law
  • Strong research skills
  • Strong writing skills
  • Strong analytical skills

Responsibilities

  • Assess strategy and prepare documents for responding to environmental violations alleged by Illinois EPA and USEPA
