About The Position

Liff, Walsh & Simmons is a progressive and reputable law firm known for its commitment to excellence, integrity, and client-focused legal services. As we continue to expand our team, we are seeking a talented Litigation Attorney to join the firm. As a full-time Attorney at Liff, Walsh & Simmons, you will play a pivotal role in providing high-quality legal counsel on a wide range of matters as well as supporting various aspects of legal research, document preparation, and case management. The ideal candidate should have a strong desire to build a book of business and be eager to learn and grow. This is a full-time on-site role based in Annapolis, MD.

Requirements

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.
  • Active membership and in good standing with the MD State Bar.
  • Minimum of 1+ years of experience practicing litigation, with a focus on complex matters.
  • In-depth knowledge of federal, state, and local laws and regulations.
  • Excellent analytical, negotiation, and communication skills.
  • Demonstrated commitment to delivering exceptional client service.
  • The ideal candidate will be driven, self-motivated with the ability to work and lead a team.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in the fields of legal ethics is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Represent clients in litigation, arbitration, mediation, and appeals.
  • Provide expert legal counsel on complex litigation, employment law, and legal ethics issues.
  • Prepare, review, and present legal documents, ensuring the best interests of our clients.
  • Collaborate with colleagues across different practice areas to provide comprehensive legal solutions.
  • Work closely with clients to understand their personal and business needs and tailor legal strategies accordingly.
  • Conduct in-depth legal research on case law, statutes, and regulations.
  • Draft legal documents, including pleadings, motions, and discovery requests.
  • Prepare and organize exhibits, affidavits, and other supporting documents for court filings.
  • Draft administrative filings before the Attorney Grievance Commission and advise clients on complicated legal ethics issues.
  • Maintain organized and up-to-date electronic and physical case files.
  • Prepare and file court documents, ensuring compliance with procedural requirements.
  • Communicate with clients, opposing counsel, and court personnel as directed by Partners.
  • Assist in the preparation of deposition summaries and trial exhibits.
  • Apply analytical skills to identify and assist in resolving issues; proactively suggest appropriate solutions and recommendations to enhance final work product.
  • Complete special projects, and other related duties as assigned.
