About The Position

Berry Appleman & Leiden (BAL) is hiring Associate Attorneys to handle employment-based immigration matters. The role manages a high-volume, varied caseload that includes PERM, H-1B, L-1, and TN matters; supervises and mentors paralegals and immigration assistants; and consults with foreign national employees about their immigration histories and visa strategies. The attorney reviews and finalizes complex legal documents before government filing, conducts legal research into Department of Labor regulations, USCIS policies, and federal immigration laws, and uses BAL’s Cobalt® case management technology to monitor workflows and deadlines. The role also ensures filings meet government and firm standards. Multiple positions are available, and telecommuting may be possible.

Requirements

Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an ABA-accredited law school.
At least 12 months of experience in the job offered or in an attorney-related occupation.
Active license to practice law in the United States and in good standing.

Responsibilities

Manage a high-volume, varied caseload of employment-based immigration matters, including PERM, H-1B, L-1, and TN petitions.
Directly supervise, mentor, and review the daily work of a dedicated team of paralegals and immigration assistants.
Consult with foreign national employees to assess their immigration history, advise on visa strategies, and guide them through the immigration process.
Review and finalize complex legal documents before government filing.
Research evolving Department of Labor regulations, USCIS policies, and federal immigration laws to resolve complex case issues and develop compliant legal strategies.
Use BAL’s Cobalt® case management technology to monitor team workflows, track critical deadlines, and support efficient case progression.
Ensure case filings meet government and firm standards.
