About The Position

Carnegie Hall seeks an Associate, Artist Training Programs (ATP), to provide administrative and operational support for young artist programs within the Weill Music Institute (WMI), Carnegie Hall's education and social impact programs arm. The ATP team manages three national youth ensembles (the National Youth Orchestra of the USA, NYO2, and NYO Jazz) bringing more than 200 teenage musicians and over 60 faculty/guest artists together each summer for intensive training and concert activities, including national and international touring. In addition, workshops and master classes in a range of musical disciplines from hip hop to jazz to classical vocal music are produced by the ATP team throughout the Carnegie Hall concert season to provide opportunities for young professionals to work with and learn from world-class artists. A particular focus of this position will be alumni relations and program activity across the more than 1750 past participants in the NYO programs. The Associate will join a team of five and will be expected to bring a positive, collaborative, and flexible professional attitude to the workplace. Some weekend and evening work is necessary based on program schedules.

Requirements

  • 1-2 years of administrative experience, or equivalent, within a performing arts or educational organization.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills, with a strong eye for detail, are required, along with a genuine interest in the development of a diverse group of young musicians and emerging professional artists.
  • Must be able to meet deadlines and multitask efficiently while working as part of a collaborative team.
  • Fluency in Microsoft Office is required.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of advanced instrumental training opportunities across both academic and summer programs is strongly preferred for alumni cultivation activities.

Responsibilities

  • Managing ongoing communication with NYO program alumni, including facilitating annual surveys, list management, and data validation.
  • Developing programming, both artistic and social, to maintain and strengthen the relationship between Carnegie Hall and NYO alumni.
  • Coordination with Carnegie Hall Development staff around engagement of alumni in connection with fundraising and special events.
  • Responding to inquiries from, and carrying on general correspondence with, ATP program applicants and participants (and their parents/guardians, as applicable).
  • Collecting and ensuring completeness of required documentation for enrollment/participation in ATP programs.
  • Staffing ATP events as needed, assisting with production, artists, faculty, and students/participants, including during NYO residency activities through the summer months.
  • Supporting recruitment efforts for ATP programs through research about and correspondence with relevant peer organizations, educational institutions, and other outlets for student engagement.
  • General administration for ATP programs including invoice collection, expense reports, budget tracking, mailings, meeting scheduling, contract processing, etc.
