About The Position

The Associate Area Director for Scottsdale Young Life works in cooperation with the area director to implement Young Life's mission of introducing kids to Jesus Christ and helping them grow in their faith through spiritual leadership and good management. This role involves recruiting, training, and deploying others to establish an effective Young Life ministry. The position requires adherence to Young Life's Statement of Faith and policies, including professing a belief in Jesus Christ and ministering as a servant of God.

Requirements

Must have completed Core Training —Phase One.
Proven relational skills with both kids and adults.
Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to maintain confidentiality.
Profess a belief in Jesus Christ as their personal Savior and Lord.
Subscribe to the statements and policies required of all Young Life staff, including the Young Life Statement of Faith.
Be ready, willing, and able to fulfill ministry functions required by the organization.
Refrain from conduct and statements that detract from the biblical standards taught and supported by Young Life.
Abide by all policies and practices of Young Life, including those related to religious belief or ministry activities.

Responsibilities

Implement Young Life's mission through spiritual leadership and good management.
Recruit, train, and deploy others for effective Young Life ministry.
Develop a yearly personal growth plan fostering a vibrant spiritual life.
Seek and maintain relationships and disciplines within a church community.
Actively participate in the spiritual life of the Young Life community.
Lead teams and individuals in spiritual development.
Ensure Young Life ministry is designed and carried out with dependence on prayer.
Assist in casting the area’s vision for reaching every kid.
Develop consistent gathering times with committee, leaders, and staff for unity and direction.
Create a plan for the spiritual leadership of volunteer leaders, staff, and committee members.
Supervise, evaluate, and develop specific staff and volunteer leaders.
Provide resources and experiences needed to implement the area vision.
Cooperatively provide quality summer staff, work crew, and adult guests for summer camps.
Model excellence in contact work, club, Campaigners, and camping.
Assist in training leaders, team leaders, and committee on effective teamwork and yearly ministry strategy.
Manage part of the local area budget according to TDS principles.
Help develop and lead the area’s fundraising strategy and ensure excellence in donor communication.
Assist in raising necessary funds and take on major donor relationships.
Build the Young Life brand via public relations.
Assist in coordinating and conducting quality events.
Actively engage in all three levels of contact work.
Lead or co-lead a model Young Life club.
Lead/supervise an effective Campaigner ministry.
Observe and evaluate each of the schools/ministries in the local area.
Develop and implement ongoing plans to maximize Gospel proclamation through camping opportunities.
Serve on a summer assignment at a Young Life property, camp, or other position.
Adhere to all Young Life policies and procedures.
Maintain professionalism concerning office hours, dress, conduct, and time management.
Manage finances with stewardship, accountability, and transparency.
Maintain accurate information on kids, leaders, and donors.
Provide clear, prompt, appropriate, and professional communication.
Set yearly strategic ministry plan and initiatives and review them regularly.
Perform other duties as assigned and congruent with gifts, experience, and area needs.
Accept and complete short and long term assignments or projects as directed.
