About The Position

National Grid is hiring an Associate Analyst for their Regulation & Pricing team. This role provides foundational analytical and documentation support, facilitating a basic understanding of the regulatory framework. The position involves supporting the execution of regulatory strategies within the NY jurisdiction, including rate cases, cost of service models, and other regulatory filings, as well as analyses and proposals for National Grid's operations in New York.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, economics, finance, or related field and up to 1 year of related experience, or equivalent work experience.
  • Demonstrates strong analytical and problem-solving skills; have the ability to quickly grasp complex issues and can effectively integrate, compile and analyze complex information and data to provide timely and accurate interpretation of analyses.
  • Proficient in relevant software applications e.g., SAP, Access, Excel, PowerPlan, BI/HANA Reports and Word with strong knowledge of data management.
  • Ability to communicate tactfully and effectively, both orally and in writing, and must be able to present information in a clear and concise manner to large groups, senior management, management, internal stakeholders and external contacts.
  • Strong organizational skills, ability to work independently, handle multiple tasks, research inquiries and follow-up to ensure completion are also necessary.

Nice To Haves

  • Advanced degree/credits are preferred.
  • Knowledge and experience in revenue requirement and cost of service development and a sound understanding of financial analysis tools and techniques is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in preparation and maintenance of straightforward revenue requirement models, calculations and procedures to support regulatory filings (ex. rate cases, compliance filings, regulatory reports) and ensure accurate information is provided to regulators and other stakeholders.
  • Assist with discovery including gathering data, drafting responses and maintaining an audit trail.
  • Act as a DRM for the team in discovery.
  • Execute instructions and requests, plan and make appropriate arrangements to ensure that regulatory analysis is carried out efficiently and aligned with relevant policies and processes.
  • Prepare and analyze regulatory data for more senior review using pre-determined tools, methods and formats to support the development of regulatory strategy as well as challenge existing ways of working and continuously seek ways to do things better to drive greater efficiencies within assigned area.
  • Monitor and review financial information, updating where it is necessary to identify any anomalies or discrepancies and ensure management has access to up to date and accurate information to support the accounting related to rate cases.
  • Keep up to date with regulatory developments and build upon technical and professional skills within all areas of Regulation and Pricing to continually grow your personal contribution to the business.
  • Present team dashboards
  • Help track regulatory precedents and summarize key decisions.
  • Act as an initial point of contact for internal business personnel regarding the development and interpretation of regulatory and rate case filings outcomes, to provide support, to support ensuring policies and compliance of outcomes are applied consistently while building cross-functional working in line with National Grid policies and escalating when necessary.
  • Gain exposure to key topics and other parts of the business as a supporting working group member.
  • Begin to develop and maintain effective relationships with key internal and external stakeholders including PSC Staff.
  • Perform baseline research on PSC Orders & Proceedings; summarize for internal use.
