About The Position

This individual will work with Engineering Project Managers to provide cost controls support on projects. The Associate Analyst will have advanced skills of a cost analyst and be able to provide cost controls support on projects. They will be comfortable evaluating and communicating the cost impact of scope changes, contract values, cost trend impacts, allowances for design unknowns, escalation, contingency and fee structure to the department head and management. This role facilitates project approval in the system, assists in coding and tracking of all invoices, including retainage payments, and verifies rates are correct per contract and the invoice. They will track Actuals and Commitments in detail for the project and work closely with the Project Manager to provide an updated forecast monthly. The role also provides significant project metrics as requested, quarterly accruals for the project, and assists in tracking and managing purchase orders, contracts, and/or work offers. They will manage any necessary reclasses for the project and ensure documentation is retained for the project file. The ability to adapt and work through ad-hoc requests as needed is also essential.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, construction management or business, or additional equivalent business experience.
  • MS Office Suite experience, especially Excel.
  • Comfortable in financial software packages.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong ability to apply judgment.
  • Ability to professionally challenge and question both basic and complicated activity and assumptions.
  • Able to communicate with Analysts and Project Managers and solve project related issues.
  • Associate Specialist/Analyst level requires a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience and 0-2 years of relevant job related experience.

Nice To Haves

  • Pipeline industry experience
  • Intermediate level of Excel: pivot tables and the manipulation of large amounts of data
  • SAP systems experience

Responsibilities
