About The Position

Responsible for developing and maintaining existing databases, assist with developing energy forecast models, provide management with accurate financial projections and identify future opportunities. This role involves assisting in the analysis, preparation, review, and documentation of strategic, financial, resource, and operations planning. The analyst will be proficient in producing and analyzing elements necessary for the development and analysis of the annual load forecast, including the development of the annual peak demand and energy forecast. They will also work in conjunction with traders and the analytics team to provide tools and valuations through quantitative risk analysis of the energy trading portfolio. Analyzing weather, economic, and financial statistics, customer usage patterns, and other statistical information used in forecasting and analyzing rates, load forecasts, and revenue forecasts is a key part of the role. The position requires updating, reviewing, and supporting the financial model and maintaining interfaces with fuel, revenue, operations and maintenance, plant, and construction data. Support, analysis, and recommendations for traders will be provided, along with developing and maintaining analytical abilities to lead and/or support existing or new projects.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in business analytics, data science, finance, accounting, engineering or other business related area.
  • 0-2 years of experience with a Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience
  • Must have a thorough knowledge and demonstrated experience using Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Access, or similar software.
  • Demonstrated proficiency using R, Python, SQL, AWS, Power BI.
  • Financial modeling and forecasting experience.
  • Must possess excellent analytical, problem-solving, leadership and decision-making skills
  • Ability to properly access and prioritize multiple concurrent projects within deadline constraints
  • Experience with financial and operational analysis methodologies and statistics
  • Requires thoroughness, accuracy, excellent documentation skills, excellent oral and written communication skills, self-motivation and management skills, effective presentation skills and the ability to work in a team environment
  • Advanced knowledge of data management, including database and spreadsheet applications, with the ability to develop and use complex models or specialized computer applications
  • Ability to work in an entrepreneurial environment with a wide range of responsibilities
  • Proven ability to use analytical, statistical, and programming skills to collect and analyze large data sets

Responsibilities

  • Work in conjunction with traders and analytics team to provide tools and valuations through quantitative risk analysis of the energy trading portfolio
