About The Position

Milliman's Seattle Health Practice is seeking an Associate Actuary with extensive experience in Medicare Part D. This role requires strong actuarial skills, excellent communication and interpersonal abilities, and organizational talent. A high degree of self-motivation and the capacity to lead a team of analysts are essential. Milliman offers comprehensive on-the-job training in consulting skills and advanced actuarial techniques. The Seattle Health Practice collaborates with a diverse range of organizations, including insurance companies, health plans, government agencies, healthcare providers, Accountable Care Organizations (ACOs), health technology firms, and employers. The team comprises over 180 actuarial professionals, supported by consultants, IT specialists, and operations staff. Milliman provides a mentor program for career guidance and growth opportunities. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in mathematics, statistics, economics, or a related field
  • ASA designation
  • 5-10 years of healthcare actuarial experience
  • Three or more years of experience with Medicare Part D, including bid development
  • Experience with Medicare Advantage
  • Proven ability to communicate technical concepts clearly to non-technical audiences
  • Strong understanding of the US healthcare system
  • Advanced proficiency with Excel
  • Working knowledge of SAS, SQL, or R
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and collaboratively in a team environment
  • Proven ability to succeed in a fast-paced environment with a strong focus on client satisfaction
  • Entrepreneurial mindset with a proactive, solutions-oriented approach
  • Legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for immigration support or sponsorship

Responsibilities

  • Lead Medicare Part D and Medicare Advantage bid pricing and forecasting
  • Present results to and participate in strategic discussions with clients
  • Provide strategic guidance to local and regional health plans around evolving impacts of the Inflation Reduction Act and other regulatory and market forces
  • Perform analysis of healthcare data
  • Write reports that explain technical concepts clearly to a non-technical audience
  • Manage projects through completion within an expected budget
  • Supervise actuarial students in the completion of technical aspects of actuarial projects
  • Develop the ability to manage client relationships
  • Generate new business with both new and existing clients
