About The Position

Centene is seeking an Associate Actuary to conduct strategic analysis, pricing, peer review, and build/support tools for planning processes and risk assessment to estimate financial outcomes. This role involves managing actuarial needs and producing reports to aid in developing corporate strategy. This is a remote position within the Continental United States, with a preference for Eastern or Central time zones.

Requirements

  • 2+ years of actuarial experience
  • Associate of the Society of Actuaries (ASA) designation
  • Bachelor’s degree in related field or equivalent experience
  • Advanced Excel (e.g., arrays, PivotTables, VBA, and queries)
  • SQL
  • SAS
  • Ability to effectively leverage AI tools to enhance actuarial analysis and decision-making

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to and support Medicare strategic initiatives and planning
  • Own/build tools and/or processes, supporting related internal users’ needs
  • If eligible for American Academy of Actuaries membership, review and certify MA bids (typically 5-15 bids)
  • Apply knowledge of mathematics, probability, statistics, and principles of finance and business to calculate financial outcomes
  • Developing probability tables and regressions based on analysis of statistical data and other pertinent information
  • Research and analyze the impact from legislative changes
  • Analyze and evaluate required premium rates
  • Assess cash reserves and liabilities enable payment of future benefits
  • Analyze various data reports, identify trends and gaps and recommend action
  • Determine the equitable basis for distributing money for insurance benefits
  • Create and update actuarial reports
  • Participate in merger and acquisition analysis
  • Perform other duties as assigned and comply with all policies and standards
