We’re building a more open world. Join us. Associate Accountant Are you a motivated accounting professional looking to join a dynamic team with one of the world's leading travel companies? Expedia's Consumer Payment and Cash Accounting (CPAC) Team is seeking an Associate Accountant. We are responsible for the accounting and analysis of Expedia's worldwide cash receipts and consumer payment methods arising from merchant transactions. Introduction to the Team Our Corporate Functions are made up of teams that support Expedia Group, including Employee Communications, Finance, Traveler and Partner Service Platform, Legal, People Team, Inclusion and Diversity, and Global Social Impact and Sustainability. The Consumer Payment and Cash Accounting (CPAC) Team plays a critical role in Expedia's financial operations. We account for and analyze transactions from global consumer payment methods (credit cards, installments, gift cards, loyalty points, etc.), record and analyze treasury activities (investments, hedging, intercompany), and reconcile cash receipts using payment processor reports and internal systems. Our team supports projects related to consumer payment methods that enable Expedia's global growth and provides essential support for quarterly and annual SEC audits. In this role, you will:

Requirements

  • Proficient written and verbal communication skills; able to clearly explain complex processes to varied audiences
  • Analytical problem-solving abilities to handle non-recurring and complex issues
  • Dedicated to continuous improvement and process streamlining
  • Skilled at building and maintaining cross-functional relationships with a customer-focused approach
  • Highly organized with effective time management; able to prioritize and meet deadlines
  • Solid understanding of US GAAP and how to apply it to accounting processes
  • Work both collaboratively and autonomously in a fast-paced, rapidly changing environment
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills (e.g., pivot tables, complex functions) and comfort working with large data sets
  • AA or BA degree in Accounting or Finance or related technical field; or equivalent related professional experience

Responsibilities

  • Reconcile daily credit card settlement reports to cash received and research differences
  • Partner with Global Payments Operations to ensure timely settlement files and funding
  • Lead meetings with Global Payments Operations and Engineering to troubleshoot issues in the internal cash reconciliation tool
  • Perform ad hoc analysis on unusual transactions for business partners
  • Prepare month-end journal entries and account reconciliations
  • Prepare documentation support for quarterly reviews, year-end audit, and SOX compliance
  • Collaborate with Treasury to ensure treasury-related events are accurately recorded
  • Perform User Acceptance Testing on new or updated accounting processes
